Our work here at Trinity is intertwined with the work of a number of larger organizations including all of the following (click on any heading for more information):
ELCIC – Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada – Trinity Lutheran Church is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada – an organization of over 600 Lutheran congregations across Canada, representing over 150,000 Lutheran members. Through the ELCIC we also participate in the World Council of Churches and the Lutheran World Federation.
Synod of Alberta and the Territories – The ELCIC is organized into 5 synods, each representing a geographic area. Trinity Lutheran Church belongs to the Synod of Alberta and the Territories.
Mulhurst and other Lutheran camps – Trinity Lutheran Church was one of the founding members of Mulhurst Lutheran Church Camp, a beautiful retreat setting on Pigeon Lake just 50 minutes south of Edmonton. Mulhurst Lutheran Camp, along with 7 other Lutheran camping organizations as well as an affiliation with the Anglican Youth Programs, constitute the camps of LOMAN (Lutheran Outdoor Ministries in Alberta and the North). The camps of LOMAN view outdoor ministry as an opportunity to provide programs of Christian education, worship, fellowship and recreation to a wide variety of people. Church leaders credit time spent as a camper, staff person, or camp volunteer as being instrumental to their growth in faith and their sense of call to Christian leadership.
Campus Ministry – Trinity has long been a supporter of Campus Ministry (a ministry of the Synod of Alberta and the Territories).
Lutheran Seminaries – Trinity directly supports the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Saskatoon and has contributed several seminary students to Lutheran Seminaries across North America in the last few years.
CLWR – Canadian Lutheran World Relief is one of Canada’s oldest relief and development agencies. Many members from Trinity make special donations through their church offering to support CLWR’s service to the world’s poor and disenfranchised.
Kairos – Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives is a web of people and partnerships dedicated to a faithful and decisive response to God’s call for respect for the earth and justice for its people. A faith-based ecumenical organization, inspired by a vision of God’s compassionate justice, KAIROS effects social change through advocacy, education and research programs in: Ecological Justice, Economic Justice, Energy and Extraction, Human Rights, Just and Sustainable Livelihoods, and Indigenous Peoples. These programs are informed by, and networked with, approximately 21 partner organizations in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East; about eighty local grassroots groups across Canada; as well as with countless other organizations, churches and individuals.
DELKINA – Deutsche Evangelisch-Lutherische Konferenz in Nordamerika (German Evangelical Lutheran Conference in North America) – Trinity, as a congregation with a fully bilingual ministry, is an active member of DELKINA. Several members from Trinity are active members of the DELKINA leadership.
Global Missions – Through the ELCIC and the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) Trinity participates in mission work around the globe through financial and prayer support.
Greater Edmonton Alliance – GEA is a network of nearly 40 organizations of faith, labour, community and small business that work together to organize citizens’ power so that we can act effectively and with impact on issues that matter to us all. Several members of Trinity are active participants in the work of GEA; Trinity participates in GEA through the Alberta Synod.
Habitat for Humanity – Since 1991, Habitat for Humanity Edmonton has empowered low-income families to prepare for the future and pursue their dreams by providing them with a hand up into home ownership. Trinity members have long been active participants in the ministry of Habitat for Humanity, both on the local level and with Habitat International.
